With all the safety precautions taken, OKOndt GROUP comes back to training and educational seminars at the customer’s site again after quite a long pause. On August, 3-7 our specialists took a business trip to Turkey where they carried out the training for Bursa Ray company’s staff on the double rail ultrasonic flaw detector UDS2-73 operation which is designed for ultrasonic testing of rails.

This NDT equipment was purchased by the Turkish company several months ago. As our company strives to provide the customers with all available means for easy learning of a purchased equipment’s operation, a detailed manual and educational materials are included in each supply kit of the equipment. Moreover, as the ultrasonic trolley received by the customer, several remote conferences were conducted by OKOndt technical specialist.

It is obvious that an on-site training on real rails, with a possibility to observe how an experienced professional operates the equipment, and to whom instant questions may be asked and discussed with, - is the most effective method to make operation of the flaw detection equipment out and learn to use all its functions. So the decision to hold an on-site training was taken, and a training program highlighting both theory and practice was made up. The practical part spotlighted the on-hands experience of the ultrasonic flaw detector UDS2-73 use not only at the daytime, but also at night.

An immense experience of our specialists in conducting educational seminars on ultrasonic rail flaw detection conditioned a successful business trip to Turkey. During practical lessons, the defects on the rail head running surface and in the rail welded joints were found, so the customer’s specialists came to an idea of importance to test this section of the rail track as well. OKOndt has a kit for the rail welds testing—USR-01 consisting of a scanner and a portable ultrasonic flaw detector Sonocon B. This testing equipment interested our Turkish partners, and they plan to purchase it at the earliest.
